The Clinton School’s Center on Community Philanthropy is proud to host its third annual summit on “Racial Healing and Equity in the American South.”
This year, the summit will commemorate the 15th anniversary of President Bill Clinton’s “One America in the 21st Century” initiative on race. Scheduled for Thursday, March 28th and Friday, March 29th, the summit will be hosted at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center.
“Fifteen years ago, President Clinton challenged the American people to lift the burden of race in this country through the “One America In the 21st Century” initiative. This year’s summit commemorates that challenge by acknowledging our progress and highlighting our path forward.” says Dr. Charlotte L. Williams, associate professor and director of the Center on Community Philanthropy.
In recognition of this historic event, the Center on Community Philanthropy will welcome back its previous scholars in residence for the release of its second edition compendium. As part of the summit’s scheduled events, a special reception for this release will be held at the Clinton School of Public Service. Attendees will have the opportunity to celebrate the outstanding work of the scholars and have their copies of the compendiums signed.
The Center is also pleased to announce that during this year’s summit we will be hosting Dr. Emmett Carson as our newest Scholar in Residence. Dr. Carson is the President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. In addition to managing one of the largest community foundations in the world, he is a prolific writer and is recognized as an international leader in the field of philanthropy. Dr. Carson is an authority on social justice grantmaking, as well as public accountability by nonprofits. He also serves as a Senior Fellow at Synergos, a global nonprofit that supports initiatives tackling the challenges of poverty and injustice.
There is no cost to attend the summit, but attendees will need to register in advance.
